When planning a wedding, it’s always best to get your location(s) secured first. Although most Central Indiana weddings still take place in a church, every year more and more couples are opting for alternative ceremony locations. The reasons vary greatly and include differing religious backgrounds and wanting an outdoor ceremony.
Because many popular venues and locations book up a year or more in advance, you may not always get your first choice of dates. Most times, you will have to pick an open date from the venue’s calendar. If you have to have your wedding on a certain date, you may have to search until you find a venue with your date available. One of our clients only had 2 dates out of the entire year that both her church and her choice of reception venue were available.
Some churches only allow members to use the church for weddings, so be certain to ask about requirements for using the church for your ceremony. Also, don't forget to ask about restrictions on photography and videography, Wedding Planners, flowers, music, etc.
For reception locations, although most will tell you all of the important information up front, be sure to find out if there is a minimum on food and drinks, room capacities, and can your party be extended at the end of the night if needed.
